The lineup starts with the Light (RWD) and then goes to the Wind (RWD), Wind (e-AWD), GT-Line (RWD), and GT-Line (e-AWD). However, while the GT-Line (e-AWD) was the top-of-the-range model for 2022, the 2024 Kia EV6 range has a new pinnacle in the shape of the EV6 GT.
Virtuous performance
If you care about the impact driving has on the environment but also love the thrill of driving a car with plenty of performance, it used to seem like you had to forgo one or the other. That’s no longer the case with the arrival of the Kia EV6, especially the all-new 2024 Kia EV6 GT trim level. Until now, there were three propulsion options for the EV6. The most affordable features a 58 kWh battery pack and produces 167 horsepower. The other two get a more substantial 77.4 kWh battery pack, which in single-motor rear-drive form produces 225 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. In dual-motor all-wheel drive form, the system develops an even more impressive 320 horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. However, the EV6 GT produces a staggering 576 horsepower and 545 lb.-ft. of torque, and also gets an upgraded chassis to handle the power and deliver a 0-60mph time of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 161 mph.
More than just a pretty powertrain
Electric vehicles like the 2024 Kia EV6 are still something of a novelty to many, which is why it can be so easy to get hung up on the electric powertrain, range, etc. But the EV6 is a superb package where no aspect of being a great vehicle gets overlooked. The sporty, futuristic exterior styling might lead you to assume there may be some compromise of interior space, but that’s certainly not the case, as the cabin of the EV6 is exceptionally spacious.
